A new month already? 2018 is flying by.
I think the above picture might be a bit optimistic – the north of England is covered in snow at the moment. It’s dark, cold and very slippery. It’s not terribly inspiring for writing either – it makes me just want to curl up in a warm place and sleep….
However there is no such option. Too many things to do, too many plans. Let’s put up that amended goal list from February...
“Keep interacting and blogging about games, but do it more often and better.”
1 – Complete an RPG – I’ve completely neglected this genre over the years…time to put that right!
2 – Start on the list of games that inspired Retro Redress – sure, there are lots of games that I need to complete…but there are some that I have to complete. Games that are legendary all time greats that I’ve never played. Games that are considered the best of all time that I’ve ignored. I consider these games an elite class of game and I need to beat them on my adventures to truly say I made the most of this blog.
3 – Start some sports game careers – I’m obsessed with sports game career modes, a la ‘Be A Legend’ on Pro Evolution Soccer. It’s my dream to beat a few of these and it might satisfy my sports game cravings too! Obviously, these will take some time, but if you want some thing, you will need to work at it…no matter how long it takes.
4 – Finally finish Breath Of The Wild – Because I’ve had it for since launch and I’m like 10 hours in…
So where am I up to with these goals? Well, 2 has been the main focus with Grand Theft Auto III and I plan to keep going with that redress. I’ve been thinking about the other goals though. I’ve decided on the game I want to play for 1, I know the game I want to play for 3 and what sports game I need to complete a redress for before I can go ahead and I will complete goal 4 at some point, I promise!
It’s worth going back to the mission statement too. I want to keep writing about different things in different places and that’s something that starts with Retro Redress. I’m looking to redesign the blog and write about more topics – it’s not just games that I need to catch up on! The thing about Retro Redress is, it wasn’t designed with the long term in mind. Retro Redress was designed to be a tentative toe in the blogging waters, I wanted to see if I could blog consistently and if I would enjoy it. Nearly a year later (March 25th is our 1 year anniversary…well the first post was posted then) and I’ve realised that I enjoy this medium and want to put more in to it.
Retro Redress was like renting a flat for a year, it was a good base while I learned how to use the likes of WordPress and Twitter, organize myself and try to improve my blogging skills. Now I want to design a blog that can be my ‘writing home’, somewhere I can keep growing and expand on what I’ve been doing…mainly try and put right the mistakes I’ve made and defend the things that I think are underappreciated. I’m hoping to have completed the transition by April and be up and running….
As always, thanks for reading and commenting…it’s always appreciated….
