Yeah…it’s a bit messy in here, sorry about that.
March has been a long month for me because I’ve been working on redesigning the blog. As you can probably tell, it’s still a bit of a work in progress. I was doing OK until WordPress shrunk my lovingly crafted Master System blog logo…I can reassure you, it’s actually bigger than that….
So, why am I changing the layout and the name? Well, there’s a few reasons. Firstly, I want to write about more than just video games. over the past few months, I’ve realized that I’ve missed out on more than just great games – I’ve missed out on great films, great albums and great wrestling. I’ve noticed that this blog has encouraged me to play more games. Writing this nonsense makes me feel accountable. If I just play games by myself and get bored or can’t be bothered, then I can just stop playing. However, blogging makes me record how I’m getting on. If I write that I’m going to do something, then I feel more motivated to do it! I’m hoping this positive action will rub off on the other hobbies I have and get me to listen to more music and watch more films and wrestling….
Don’t worry though – I’m still going to be playing games. I’ve still got a mental backlog the size of Everest, so expect more silly challenges to be undertaken and accounts of classic games that should really have been played years ago…
The other reason for the relaunch is that I want to move away from the Retro Redress name. I find it a name that’s limited (I play more than just old games) and to be honest with you, it’s a bit of a crutch. I started using it last year when I began blogging, knowing that I could be fairly anonymous with an alias. That way if anything went wrong or I didn’t like blogging, I could just disappear, with no real effects. Having had a great year blogging and tweeting, I don’t feel the need to hide any more.
I’m going to do the usual ‘goal check’ in a day or two as it’s late here and I need some sleep, otherwise I’m going to end up eating all the kid’s Easter Eggs to stay awake….who am I kidding? I’ll be doing that anyway….
Happy Easter all, I hope there’s lot’s of chocolate….
Super interested to see what your blog becomes! I’m doing the opposite at the moment as I’m starting to take freelance work that is exclusively games-based. 😛 Looking forward to seeing the new look finished!

Happy Easter! I hope the redesign gets worked out (as in you logo appears at normal size) but it sounds like you have great plans.

Thanks! I’ve lots of plans, though the main one is fixing that logo – it looked fine before I pressed ‘accept’ on the new design!

I thought I hadn’t seen Retro Redress for a while, here you are! Always good to review and improve. I’ve kinda reached the same with launches joypad, or rather I’ve accidentally gone towards reviewing games and blogs being semi serious, which isn’t what I wanted and now I need to decide what path to take, hence me being off the radar for a while!

Yeah, we had a bit of an (ongoing) makeover – I realized it wasn’t just games I needed to revisit.
I guess blogs evolve – that’s the lesson I’m learning! Looking forward to seeing what you post and I hope, regardless of direction, you find a game that doesn’t make you want to hurl that controller!
